MEN'S TENNIS TEAM DEFEATS VIRGINIA TECH 5-2

teThe No. 23-ranked Golden Gopher men's tennis team defeated Virginia Tech 5-2 this evening in Columbus, Ohio. Minnesota won four singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to earn the five team points.

At No. 2 singles, sophomore Thomas Haug defeated Michael Kurz 6-4, 6-4. At No.3 singles, junior Jorge Duenas topped Andrew Vu 6-3, 6-4. Winning at No. 4 singles was senior captain Martin Michalowski with a 6-3, 6-0 score over Gerard Baynham.

In doubles competition, freshmen Harsh Mankad and Eric Robertson defeated Vu and Bynham 8-5. Juniors Tyson Parry and Jon Svensson were also victorious in doubles competition.
