Freshman Harsh Mankad forced Purdue's Jason Marshall to three sets, couldn't quite pull out the victory in the first singles match. However, sophmore Thomas Haug and juniors Tyson Parry and Jon Svensson won their singles matches easily to give the Maroon and Gold a comfortable lead.
In doubles action, Haug and senior Martin Michalowski defeated Boilermakers Marshall and Andrew Wakefield 9-7; while Minnesota's Eric Robertson teamed up with Parry to clean up Laith Al Alajaba and Scott Mayer of Purdue. The two doubles victories, along with the four singles wins, gave the Golden Gophers enough points to take the match.
