Geatz, who recently received his seventh straight NCAA Regional bid, directed the No. 18-ranked Golden Gophers to an overall record of 22-6 and a 9-1 runner- up finish in the Big Ten this season. In 12 years at the helm, Geatz has put together an overall record of 227-102 which includes five Big Ten titles (four of which were consecutive) and eight appearances at the NCAAs. Both rank as the most of any Minnesota men's tennis coach.
Mankad, the Big Ten's Freshman of the Year, compiled an overall record of 29-19, 7-3 in the Big Ten as the Golden Gophers No. 1 singles ace. In addition, he paired up with Jorge Duenas at the No. 2 doubles position to put together a record of 18-6 and a league mark of 7-1.
As a result of the honor, both Geatz and Mankad will be included in a select group of seven other regional winners for each award to be considered for selection as the National Coach and Rookie Player of the Year. If selected for the national accolade, Mankad will be honored at the ITA Awards Banquet at the NCAA Championships (if present) and Geatz will be recognized at the ITA convention in December.
