HAUG, MANKAD NAMED ALL-BIG TEN

weSophomore Thomas Haug and freshman Harsh Mankad of the University of Minnesota men's tennis team were honored Tuesday as each were named to the All-Big Ten men's tennis team.

Golden Gophers newcomer Mankad, named 2000 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, completed his first conference season with a record of 9-2 and an overall mark of 22-9. In doubles, he teamed with Jorge Duenas at the No. 2 position where they put together a 7-1 league mark and an overall record of 17-4. In addition, Mankad is ranked 90th among NCAA Division I national singles leaders.

Joining Mankad on the All-Big Ten unit is Haug who sported an overall singles record of 30-10 and a conference mark of 8-2. Haug also paired up with Martin Michalowski in number one doubles to compile a record of 19-13. For Haug, this year marks his second straight garnering Big Ten accolades as he was named the league's Freshman of the Year in 1998-99.
