HAUG ADVANCES TO THIRD ROUND AT NATIONAL CLAY COURTS

Thomas Haug, Harsh Mankad and Jorge Duenas competed in the singles draw, while Duenas and Haug also participated in doubles competition.

In first-round singles action, Haug defeated Gustavo Gomez of East Tennessee State, 7-5, 6-1, and advanced to Friday's third round with a 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-3 victory over James Shortall of Mississippi.

Mankad opened up play by defeating Mike Halperin of Cornell, 6-2, 6-3, but was ousted in the second round by Mariano Pettigrosso of Arkansas Little-Rock, 6-1, 6-3. Duenas was defeated in the first round by Marko Cerenko of Duke, 6-4, 7-5.

The doubles team of Duenas and Haug withdrew from their first-round match against Itoh and Scott of New Mexico due to injury.
