Wettengel Falls in First Round of ITA All-American Qualifiers

University of Minnesota men's tennis player Chris Wettengel lost his opening round match today at the 2003 ITA All-American Qualifiers today in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Wettengel, a senior, lost 6-2, 6-1, to Nathan Price of Arkansas. Wettengel was the lone Golden Gopher competing in both the singles and doubles draws.

The ITA All-American Championships is the first of three national championship events during the 2003-04 collegiate tennis season. The tournament includes six days of qualifying matches leading up to the Oct. 9-12, 64-player, 32-doubles team main draw. The Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championship, the largest single tournament in the country, offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the season, and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
