Day One Complete at the 2006 Gopher Fall Invitational

The University of Minnesota men's tennis team opened the 2006-07 season today with day one of the Gopher Fall Invitational at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. The Golden Gophers had a solid opening day to the year as the Maroon and Gold went 11-1 in singles play and 3-3 in doubles action.
The 2006 Gopher Fall Invitational runs Sept. 29-Oct. 1, and features Minnesota, Drake, Iowa, New Mexico, Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Green Bay competing in a mock dual format. Play begins at 8:30 a.m., each day of the event.
The Golden Gophers swept its six singles matche against Wisconsin-Green Bay before going 5-1 against Big Ten rival Iowa. One of Minnesota's two ranked singles players, 84th-ranked Nic Edlefsen, opened his 2006 season with a 7-5, 6-4 win over UWGB's Tim Prudlow. In doubles play, New Mexico shutout Minnesota in three matches, but the Maroon and Gold bounced back with three win over UWGB.
