Minnesota senior Raoul Schwark lived up to his top seed at this weekend’s Princeton Invitational, capturing the singles title in a three-set victory over No. 2 seed and 82nd-ranked Peter Capkovic of Princeton Sunday.

Schwark, ranked No. 41 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason poll, fell behind early and dropped the first set, 7-5, before finding his groove in sets two and three for his fourth singles victory of the weekend.

A senior from Dalheim, Germany, and the Gophers 2006-07 MVP, Schwark easily took set two, 6-2, then closed out the match by winning set three, 6-4, to improve to 4-0 on the young season.

The Minnesota men’s tennis team returns to action the week of Oct. 2-8, when the Gophers travel to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Championships.
