Jake Annear, ranked among the top 40 players in the state of Florida, has informed University of Minnesota men’s tennis coach Geoff Young of his intentions to attend the school in the fall and play for the Gophers.

Annear will walk on with the Gophers and has signed an acceptance of admission. He is also ranked among the top 200 players nationally and has participated in U.S. Tennis Association team tennis competition.

He attended Coral Reef High School in Miami and was the team’s Most Valuable Player and Scholar Athlete in 2006. The 6-1, 185-pound right-hander has been accepted to the Carlson School of Business at Minnesota.

Annear joins two incoming freshmen who signed National Letters of Intent in German Julian Dehn and Lancaster, Ky. native Phillip Arndt.
