The 27th-ranked Minnesota men's tennis team improved to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Big Ten with a 5-2 road win against rival Wisconsin.

The Gophers, who lost the doubles point, rallied for their fourth straight win after claiming victory in five singles matches.

Minnesota's lone win in doubles came at the second position when Tobias Wernet and Rok Bonin defeated Petr Satral and Fredrik Ask 8-6. It was the second time this season that the Gophers lost the doubles point, but still won the match. The previous time was during a 4-3 upset win against Virginia Tech on Feb. 4.

Senior Sebastian Gallego earned Minnesota's first singles point with a 6-2, 6-1 romp at No. 2 singles. Julian Dehn then quickly dropped Alex Robles 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles for Minnesota's second point. Wisconsin leveled the match at 2-2 when Marek Michalicka defeated Bonin 6-4, 7-5 at first singles.

The Gophers won the final three matches to earn the win. Brendan Ruddock, Phillip Arndt and Tobias Wernet all earned three-set wins to round out the scoring. Ruddock rallied to top Rodney Carey 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and then Arndt clinched the match for the Gophers with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory against Billy Bertha. Wernet finished the day with a thrilling 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 victory against Satral.
