Gopher Men's Track Sends Best-Ever 24 to NCAAs

The Golden Gopher men’s track & field team will send 24 student-athletes, including its 4x400-meter relay, to the NCAA Preliminary Meet at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Ore., on May 26-28. For the second year, the NCAA will begin its qualifying for the outdoor track and field championships with East and West preliminary round sites. The East NCAA Preliminary Rounds will be hosted by Indiana, in Bloomington, Ind.
The top 12 individuals and relays from the preliminary rounds will advance to the NCAA Championships, June 8-11 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
The total of 24 Gophers headed to NCAAs is a program best. Minnesota was also represented by 21 athletes at last year’s NCAA West Preliminary Meet. Earlier this season, the Gophers matched a best-ever finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships placing sixth.
