Select members of the Minnesota men's tennis team are competing in the ITA All-American Championships this week in Tulsa, Okla. Rok Bonin and Leandro Toledo are the two Gophers representing the program and looking to make a name for themselves at the event.
Bonin started action yesterday in the qualifying round. After receiving a No. 25 ranking for the group, the Koper, Slovenia native, faced Daniel Hoffman (Yale), winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. This morning, he took on Ryan Lipman (Vanderbilt) and again defeated his opponent in two (6-3, 6-2).
Bonin just has one more step before entering the main draws. He now moves to face Mississippi State's Pedro Dumont in the qualifying round, which will take place tomorrow.
Toledo was named an automatic qualifier for the competition and will therefore begin his play on Oct. 4 as part of the main draws.
