FINAL RESULTS

On a cold, rainy and windy afternoon the Minnesota men's track and field team took care of business at the Tom Cat Twilight, on the campus of the University of St. Thomas. The Gophers brought home seven titles in the non-team scoring meet and left O' Shaughnessy Stadium with a few new personal and matching records.

Minnesota took the top three spots in the 400 meter dash and all three Gophers ran new personal best times. Jacob Capek brought home the first place finish after clocking in at 47.88. His previous best time this season was 48.35 at last weekend's Stanford Invitational. Kevin Bradley was second for the Maroon and Golden at 47.92 and John Holton rounded out the final three at 48.01. Bradley (48.10) and Holton (48.13) each improved from their times from last weekend.

Another big highlight for the Gophers in difficult weather conditions was Jack Szmanda. For the second consecutive Friday, Szmanda vaulted 16-8 ¾ (5.10m) to earn first place honors. Minnesota would also take the next two spots with Zach Siegmeier, who cleared 16-4 ¾ (5.00m) and Logan Markuson who finished at 15-11 (4.85m).

Erik Truedson shaved off over 10 seconds off his previous 5,000 meter time (15:00.46) and crossed the line in first, after clocking in at 14:48.51. Drew Paradis would round out the top five with a fourth place finish at 15:11.54.

Danny Schiller matched a season-best mark in the high jump at 6-8 ¾ (2.05m) to claim his first title of the season and Derek Jerde came in third after clearing 6-6 ¾ (2.00m) for the Gophers.

Cameron Boy brought home his first title in the 200 meters of the outdoor season after clocking in at 21.39. Teammate Frank Falzone took third after running a 22.14.

The Golden Gophers final two titles came from Oladipo Fagebemi in both the long and triple jump. Fagbemi leaped 48-0 ½ (14.64m) to claim his second consecutive title in the triple jump. He would finish with a mark of 23-3 ¼ (7.09m) in the long jump for first place. Sam Kettenhofen placed second with a distance of 22-8 ½ (6.92m).
