Minnesota Opens Fall Season at Penn Invitational

The Minnesota men's tennis team opens its fall schedule this weekend as select members travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the first-ever Penn Invitational. The tournament will run from Friday, Sept. 28 to Sunday, Sept. 30.

Senior Brendan Ruddock , junior Juan Pablo Ramirez, and sophomores Eric Frueh and Tucker Saxon will represent the Gophers at the event which also features talent from Binghamton, Brown, Buffalo, Delaware, Drexel, Iowa, Lehigh, NJIT, Norfolk State, Princeton, Saint Francis (Pa.), St. Joseph's, Saint Peter's, and Temple.

There will be seven flights of singles action and two flights of doubles. Ruddock will compete in the Penn (A) Flight, while Ramirez and Frueh are set to battle in the Quaker (B) Flight. Rounding out the solo play is Saxon in the Ben Franklin (E) Flight.

Ruddock and Frueh will pair up for the top flight of the doubles competition. Ramirez and Saxon will join forces in Flight B.

The tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow at the Hamlin Tennis Courts and Levy Tennis Pavilion.
