The Minnesota men's tennis team finished its fall season Sunday with a singles loss and a doubles loss at the 2013 Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Sarasota, Fla. Sunday. Both matches were championship contests in their respective draws.

In the main draw doubles final, top-seeded Florent Diep and Stefan Piro of Florida defeated the Gophers' Mathieu Froment and Jack Hamburg 8-5. Froment and Hamburg were the No. 2 seed.

The loss halted a seven-match winning steak for the junior duo, which finished 11-2 on the fall season and is now 18-10 together. The tandem also reached the ITA Central Region final and went a perfect 4-0 in its last tournament, the Gopher Invitational.

Following the doubles loss, Froment dropped the singles consolation draw final. After dropping a grueling 7-6 (11) first set, he fell 6-2 in the second set. The Longwy, France native is now 4-6 heading into the spring portion of the year.

Minnesota will now have two months off before kicking off its spring season at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. Jan. 19.
