MINNEAPOLIS - The 13th-ranked Minnesota women's gymnastics team remained perfect on the season, as it defeated No. 22 Illinois, 196.775-196.350, on Saturday at the Sports Pavilion.

Minnesota (9-0, 4-0 Big Ten) recorded higher team totals than the Illini on all four events, with scores of 49.125 on vault, a season-best 49.275 on bars, 49.000 on beam, and a 49.375 on floor.

Sophomore Jenny Covers won the vault with a career-high score of 9.900, while sophomore Kylie Schermann and freshman Lindsay Mable tied for third with scores of 9.850. Mable's score was a career-best.

On bars, senior Janell Campbell and sophomore Cierra Tomson each recording career-highs of 9.900 to tie for first place, while junior Kayla Slechta and freshmen Madie Hanley and Mable each recorded career-best scores of 9.825.

Freshman Hanna Nordquist scored a career-high 9.875 to tie with senior Shannon Golich for second on the balance beam.

With the score tied at 147.400 heading into the final rotation, the Gophers once again came up with a huge performance on floor exercise, as four Minnesota gymnasts recorded scores of 9.875 or better. Schermann tied Illinois' Alina Weinstein for first with a career-best 9.925, while Mable had a 9.900 and Campbell and Tomson each had 9.875. It was a personal-best for Tomson.

It's the second time this season that the Golden Gophers have scored more than 196.000 points, as they totaled a season-best 196.800 during a quad meet win against No. 1 Michigan, No. 20 Central Michigan and Iowa State on Jan. 26.

Mable finished second in the all-around with a total of 39.350. Illinois' Weinstein won with a total of 39.550, while Covers finished third with a total of 39.125..
