TULSA, Okla. - All three members of the University of Minnesota men's tennis team to compete in main draws the ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. Thursday came out victorious. Leandro Toledo advanced to the second round in singles, while Jack Hamburg and Mathieu Froment moved on in doubles.

In singles, No. 22 Toledo outlasted 13th-ranked Mackenzie McDonald of UCLA, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. It was Toledo's 16th-career win against a ranked opponent and his 72nd-career overall singles triumph. The Hamburg, Germany native will take on No. 58-ranked Andreas Bjerrehus of Virginia Tech Friday at noon in the Round of 32.

McDonald, who is 633rd in Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world rankings, is the top-ranked sophomore in the country. He has posted wins against No. 46-ATP ranked and two-time NCAA singles champion Steve Johnson, No. 92 Sam Groth, and No. 104 Nicolas Mahut.

Bjerrehus, a junior from Aarhus, Denmark, posted 53 total singles wins in his first two seasons for the Hokies. The two-time All-ACC selection took down No. 27 Jason Tahir of Duke, 6-3, 7-6 (5), in the first round.

No. 11-ranked Hamburg and Froment dropped their first set against San Diego's 28th-ranked duo of Jordan Angus and Filip Vittek, but won an epic second-set tiebreaker before pulling away in the super tiebreaker for a 3-6, 7-6 (19), 1-0 (1) victory.

The Gophers' top doubles combination is now 32-13 together.

In the Round of 16, Hamburg and Froment will take on the top-ranked doubles tandem in the nation in Tennessee's Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese. The Volunteer pairing won the NCAA Doubles Championship last season.
