MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Gophers hosted the University of North Dakota tonight at the Aquatic Center. The meet featured sprinting and Minnesota swimmers swimming some unorthodox races for a nice change of pace. The freshman stood out claiming first in six events.


200 MEDLEY RELAY
The relay team of Katelyn Holmquist, Heidi Busack, Tori Simenec and Abigail Raatz took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.30.

The Gopher men went 1-2-3 in the 200 medley relay to start off strong, the team of Daryl Turner, Conner McHugh, Paul Fair and Ian Gordon finished with a time of 1:31.17 for the gold.


1000 FREE
In the 1000 freestyle, B1G Freshman of the Week Brooke Zeiger took home the gold with a 9:57.87. Maddie Hoch and Devin Ste. Marie followed allowing the Gopher women to take first, second and third.


The men did the same, going 1-2-3 in the 1000, with Erick Huft taking first with a time of 9:30.13. Garin Marlow (9:33.08) and Jack Tribble (9:43.20) followed.

200 FREE
Freshman butterfly swimmer Danielle Nack captured first in the women's 200 freestyle. The rookie finished with a time of 1:51.41 followed by freshman Brooke Lorentzen.

Returninng 2014 B1G Freshman of the Year Jakub Maly took first in the men's 200 free. The sophomore finished with a 1:40.97. Senior CJ Smith placed third with a 1:41.44.

50 BACK
In the 50 back, Katelyn Holmquist took first for the women finishing with a time of 26.81. Teammates Tori Simenec and Becca Weiland followed, allowing the Gophers to go 1-2-3.

Senior Chris Johnson took it home for the men in the 50 back. His time of 23.30 secured a first-place finish in the event. Seniors Carl Newenhouse and Jimmy Rafter followed for second and third place.

50 BREAST
Freshman Rae Bullinger took home first in the 50 breaststroke, finishing with a time of 29.79. Senior Blake Zeiger followed close behind with a 29.95.

On the men's side, freshman Conner McHugh placed first in the 50 breast with a time of 26.35. Nick Hatanaka finished second.

100 FLY
Junior Lauren Votava closed out the 100 fly posting a time of 57.41 for first. Sophomore Ellen Bloom followed with a 58.93 for third.

The men's 100 fly gave the University of North Dakota their sole event win of the night. Bryce Boston led the Gophers, with a time of 51.23 for second place followed by Viktor Bjoerk.

50 FREE
In the 50 free, freshman Danielle Nack picked up her second win of the night. Nack finished with a time of 23.70. Tori Simenec and Allison Schumacher finished second and third.

Paul Fair tapped out Ian Gordon for first in the 50 free. The sophomores finished with 21.95 and 21.08 respectively.

1 METER
Jessica Ramberg posted a top time for Minnesota on the one-meter board. Ramberg finished with a total of 310.28 points for first place and was follwed by teammates Lexi Tenenbaum and Katy Etterman.

Junior Manny Pollard placed first on the men's side with a total of 371.63 points. Dylan Zoe and Matt Barnard finished in second and third place behind Pollard.

3 METER
Lexi Tenenbaum took home the gold for the women in three-meter diving. She finished with 315.83 points ahead of Jessica Ramberg and Katy Etterman.

Dylan Zoe finished in the top-spot on the men's three-meter. Zoe's first-place finish included 411.30 points. Matt Barnard and Manny Pollard followed.

100 FREE
Distance freestyler Kiera Janzen sprinted tonight in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. The senior won the 100 free with a time of 51.60. Freshman Danielle Nack finished with a 52.86 followed by Heidi Busack, allowing the Gopher women to take first, second and third.

Sophomore Daryl Turner picked up a first-place finish with a time of 44.75 in the 100 free. Freshman Chase Bublitz finished third with a time of 47.31.

100 BACK
Jessica Plant finished on top in the women's 100 back with a time of 57.13. Becca Weiland and Maddie Hoch followed for second and third.

Andrew Hartbarger took home the gold in the men's 100 back. Hartbarger finished with a time of 51.43 and was followed by Jon Thielen and Noah Busch.

100 BREAST
Senior Blake Zeiger finished with a time of 1:05.86 for first place in the 100 breast.

On the men's side, sophomore Spencer Mattox finished first with a time of 56.87.

500 FREE
Freshman Brooke Zeiger piced up her second win of the night in the 500 free. Zeiger finished with a tie of 4:48.96 for first.

Senior Alex Cisneros posted a top-finish for the men. His 500 free time was 4:38.47.

50 FLY
Sophomore Allison Schumacher finished first for the women's team in the 50 fly; her time was 25.94.

Daryl Turner swam a 21.97 in the men's 50 fly for first place.

200 IM
Senior Tori Simenec placed first in the women's 200 IM. Simenec finished with a time of 2:03.57.

Jon Thielen posted a first-place finish for the men in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 1:54.24.

200 FREE RELAY
The 200 free relay team of Allison Schumacher, Abigail Raatz, Danielle Nack and Jessica Plant finished first with a time of 1:35.01.

Daryl Turner, Paul Fair, Ian Gordon and Ryan Miksch combined for a time of 1:22.17 for first in the 200 free relay.
