FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Seniors Kelli Budd and Te'Shon Adderley led the Golden Gopher women's track and field team on the second day of the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary, but both finished just short of advancing to the NCAA finals.

Senior Katie Moraczewski and redshirt sophomore Kaila Urick also raced the 3,000m steeplechase. Moraczewski finished 21st overall in 10:26.44, while Urick posted a time of 10:50.97 in 39th.

Two Gopher throwers represented the Maroon and Gold on Friday as well as redshirt freshman Angie Guenther and junior Devin Stanford competed in the discus. Guenther posted a throw of 158-1 (48.18m) for 31st place, and Stanford recorded a toss of 156-2 (47.60m) to finished 33rd.

The NCAA West Prelims conclude on Saturday. Adderley will join senior Megan Geyen, freshman Titania Markland and junior Jessica Waldvogel on the Gophers' 4x400-meter relay team, while the 4x100-meter relay team of senior Akuoma Omeoga, Geyen, Waldvogel and redshirt freshman Erin Hawkins looks to improve on its season-best time of 45.29. In addition, sophomore Lyndsey Thorpe and Stanford are slated to compete in the hammer throw.

The top 12 individuals and relays from both the NCAA East and West Preliminaries advance to the NCAA finals, which are set for June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
