Gophers Release 2014-15 Schedule

MINNESOTA'S 2014-15 SCHEDULE
MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota men's tennis team announced its 2014-15 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The Gophers will take part in five fall tournaments before playing 25 spring dual matches. In the spring season, Minnesota's schedule includes 11 Big Ten matches and 12 matches at home at the Baseline Tennis Center.
The 2014-15 campaign kicks off Sept. 26-28 with a trip east to compete in the Penn Invitational.
Following the three-day event, the next event that will feature Minnesota will be the 2014 ITA Men's All-American Championships, which begin Sept. 29 in Tulsa, Okla. Senior Leandro Toledo, ranked No. 22 in the nation to start the season, was selected to the tournament's main draw, while fellow fourth-year players Jack Hamburg and Mathieu Froment were included in the qualifying draw. Hamburg and Froment, the No. 11-ranked doubles tandem in the country in the preseason rankings, was a main draw selectee.
Up next after the All-American Championships for the Maroon and Gold will be another tournament in Oklahoma, the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Norman that runs from Oct. 9-12.
After a week off, the University of Minnesota will welcome fellow conference schools to the Baseline Tennis Center for the Big Ten Indoor Championships from Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
The team will cap the fall on the clay in Tampa, Fla. when it takes part in the Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic Nov. 7-9.
The Gophers' spring season kicks off at the Baseline Tennis Center with a pair of matches Jan. 17. Minnesota will play Marquette in its dual-match season opener at noon CT before it takes on South Dakota State at 6 p.m. CT.
Next on the docket for the Gophers will be ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Maroon and Gold will trek to Texas and take on the host Longhorns on the first day of play. Florida State and Michigan will also be playing in the event.
After coming home to play Green Bay, Dartmouth, and Oklahoma State, Minnesota will hit the road to open conference action against Border Battle rival Wisconsin Feb. 7. Following a week off, the Gophers will travel to Cambridge, Mass. to clash with Harvard and Vanderbilt before wrapping up the month of February at North Carolina the next week.
To wrap up non-conference play, Minnesota will host Washington and Drake, March 6 and 8, respectively, before heading to South Florida March 18.
Minnesota completes the month of March with a pair of home matches against Purdue and Indiana before playing four-straight road matches against Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State.
The regular season concludes with an April 17 match against Illinois and an April 19 contest against Northwestern, both at the Baseline Tennis Center.
