RALEIGH, North Carolina - The Gophers two-day dual against the N.C. State Wolfpack wrapped up this morning at the Casey Aquatic Center. Both the Gopher men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to N.C. State. The Minnesota men fell to the No. 8 Wolfpack, with a record now at 4-3. The N.C. State women issued the Gophers their first loss of the season, the Minnesota women now hold a record of 6-1.

Day two of competition kicked off with the women's 200 medley relay. The team of Tori Simenec, Blake Zeiger, Becca Weiland and Danielle Nack placed third with a time of 1:43.22. Minnesota's "B" relay followed closely behind with a 1:44.74 to pick up fourth.

The Gopher men's top 200 medley relay team also placed third. Daryl Turner, Conner McHugh, Paul Fair and Ryan Miksch finished with a time of 1:30.81. The team also picked up fifth place with a time of 1:33.57.

Junior Kierra Smith finished first in the women's 400 IM. Smith had a time of 4:17.81, and was followed by freshman Brooke Zeiger who finished with a time of 4:18.28 for second. Samantha Harding placed fifth with a time of 4:30.07.

Brandon Hatanaka posted a 3:57.01 in the men's 400 IM for second place. Senior Andrew Hartbarger finished fourth with a time of 3:57.87 and Jakub Maly placed sixth with a 4:02.62.

Lauren Votava sprinted her way to first in the women's 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 50.19. Tori Simenec finished fourth with a 51.15 and Abigail Raatz placed sixth with a time of 51.88.

Sophomore Paul Fair placed third in the men's 100 free with a 45.21. Michael Nunan (46.37) and Ryan Miksch (46.57) finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Jessica Plant placed third in the 200 backstroke, finishing with a time of 2:03.37. Katelyn Holmquist (2:04.19) placed fifth and Maddie Hoch (2:04.35) followed for sixth place.

Senior Carl Newenhouse finished fourth in the men's 200 backstroke, with a time of 1:49.10. Chris Johnson finished with a time of 1:53.40 for sixth, followed by Jon Thielen for seventh with a 1:55.51.

In the women's 100 butterfly, senior Becca Weiland placed first with a time of 53.93. Freshman Danielle Nack finished with a time of 55.46 for fourth, and Alli Schumacher for seventh (56.71).

Sophomore Daryl Turner placed second in the men's 100 fly with a time of 47.88. Nick Orf (50.02) and Viktor Bjoerk (51.57) placed fifth and sixth respectively.

Senior Kiera Janzen placed second in the women's 500 free, finishing with a time of 4:52.38. Freshmen Brooke Lorentzen (4:54.62) and Brooke Zeiger (4:54.81) followed for third and fourth.

The N.C. State men's team opted to switch their athletes to exhibition during the men's 500 freestyle. CJ Smith posted the top Gopher time with a 4:26.75. Logan Redondo finished with a 4:34.19, followed by Michael Nunan with a 4:37.64.

Kierra Smith posted a 2:10.41 in the women's 200 breaststroke for first place. Blake Zeiger (2:22.66) and Rae Bullinger (2:23.02) placed sixth and seventh.

Conner McHugh placed first in the men's 200 breast with a time of 2:01.55. Spencer Mattox finished with a 2:04.95 and Eric Sande finished with a time of 2:07.77.

Yu Zhou collected 307.95 points on the women's one-meter. Lexi Tenenbaum (304.05) and Jessica Ramberg (298.72) followed for third and fourth.

Dylan Zoe racked up 394.80 points on the men's three-meter for third place. Matt Barnard took second with 389.92 points, and Manny Pollard took third with a score of 338.25.

Becca Weiland, Lauren Votava, Tori Simenec and Jessica Plant finished second in the 400 free relay, finishing with a time of 3:21.39.

The relay team of Daryl Turner, Paul Fair, Ryan Miksch and Michael Nunan put up a top time of 3:01.09 in the men's 400 free relay to end the two-day dual.
