AMES, Iowa (Gophersports.com) - The University of Minnesota men's track & field team continued the 2015 indoor campaign over the weekend at the Iowa State Classic with new personal records standing out among the team's top performances.

"We're confident in the way our team continues to progress this season, and we did that again this weekend," Minnesota Director of Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Steve Placensia said. "We had a lot of guys put up strong showings in one of our toughest indoor meets, and we're excited about closing out the home schedule next weekend and then getting into the championship season."

The Gophers sent three runners to the 60-meter dash finals in Brad Neumann, Gemechu Godi and newcomer Berkley Edwards. Edwards made his Gophers debut with a 6.92 in both the prelims and the finals and paced his teammates with a third-place finish. Godi finished fifth overall with a 7.01 in the finals after running a 6.91 in the prelims.

Neumann, who did not compete in the 60-meter finals, clocked a 21.41 in the 200 meter dash on Friday night to finish second overall and once again set a new personal record in the event. Godi finished 10th overall in the event at 22.08, also a new personal record for the junior transfer.

Also among the top finishers over the weekend was a pair of top-10 finishers and personal records in the 400 meters as Mitch Hechsel clocked a 47.89 to come in fourth while Nate Roese came in ninth at 48.34.

Although he finished 11th First Team All-Big Ten cross country runner Aaron Bartnik improved his best time in the 3,000 meters by more than 30 seconds, clocking an 8:05.45. Likewise for Luca Wieland in the 60-meter hurdle, who improved his best time to 6.17 in the prelims to qualify and then hit 6.18 in the finals to finish fourth.

The Minnesota 4x400 meter relay team of Roese, Goaner Deng, Hechsel and Rashawn Fountain also posted the team's top time this season, finishing third at 3:11.12.

Meanwhile in the field events, Ryan Lockard came in fifth in the high jump, setting a new personal record at 2.10 meters (6-10.75 ft.)while Glen Harold, Tyler Tappe and Logan Markuson all posted top-10 finishes in the pole vault. Fresh off a win at the Gene Glader Classic last week, Harold hit 5.01 meters (16-05.25 ft.) to come in fourth while Tappe came in eighth at 4.86 meters (15-11.25 ft.) and Markuson in ninth at 4.71 meters (15-05.50 ft.).
