Harold Wins Pole Vault at Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (Gophersports.com) - Freshman Glen Harold picked up his second-straight pole vault title over the weekend at the Gene Glader Classic.
Harold cleared 4.95 meters (16-02.75 ft.) to win the pole vault on Saturday at Bethel's Sports Recreation Complex. The Elm Grove, Wis., native paced a 1-2-3 finish by the Gophers while the Maroon & Gold also boasted four of the top five finishes and five of the top 10 performances in the event.
Harold, who hit a new personal record of 5.12 meters (16-09.50 ft.) to win the Jack Johnson Classic, has now posted his top two performances of the season over the last two weeks.
Logan Markuson finished second at the Gene Glader Classic at 4.56 meters (14-11.50 ft.), besting teammate Tyler Tappe, who finished at the same height. Luca Wieland came in fifth at 4.35 meters (14-03.25 ft.) while Ben Holcomb tied for 10th at 4.05 meters (13-03-50 ft.).
Throwing as an unattached competitor, Onyi Afoaku won the shot put with a toss of 17.33 meters (56-10.25 ft.).
Meanwhile, Christian Skaret and Alex Brend finished second and third, respectively, in the 800 meters. Skaret ran a 1:56.49 while Brend crossed the finish line at 1:57.31. Sam Carlson finished fifth as an unattached runner at 1:58.46. Eric Colvin finished 10th in the mile at 4:31.57.
