CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The 25th-ranked Minnesota men's tennis team finished its season with a 4-0 loss to third-ranked Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. The Gophers finished their 2015 season with a 21-8 record, matching their highest win total since 2000.

The Maroon and Gold reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in seven years. The team's senior class of Leandro Toledo, Jack Hamburg, Mathieu Froment and Eric Frueh finished with a four-year record of 60-40.

Virginia struck first by claiming the doubles point. After J.C. Aragone and Collin Altamirano won at No. 3, the nation's second-ranked tandem of Luca Corinteli and Ryan Shane won in the top spot to secure the match's first point.

Shane, ranked eighth in singles, doubled the Cavaliers lead with a win over the 22nd-ranked Toledo in second position. Aragone made it 3-0 by clinching a win over Froment in a tiebreaker in the second set.

After Felix Corwin won his first set at No. 3 singles over No. 77-ranked Altamirano, the Virginia freshman rallied for a three-set win to conclude the match.

No. 60 Matic Spec, Ruben Weber and Hamburg did not finish their matches at positions Nos. 2, 4 and 5, respectively.

Next up for Minnesota will be the NCAA Singles Tournament. Toledo will represent the Gophers at the event, which runs May 20-25 at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. Spec is an alternate for the tournament.
