MINNEAPOLIS - The Gophers will host their opening home meet in a Border Battle against the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. CT.
Originally, the Gophers were set to open their season on the road at Florida State, but the meet was canceled due to Hurricane Matthew.
LAST SEASON
Last season, the Gophers fell just short in Madison, Wis. The men lost by a score of 159-141, while the women lost by a score of 152-148.
At the meet, Minnesota's divers captured both of the men's and women's diving competitions. Yu Zhou and Matt Barnard swept the diving competitions, and each broke pool records in their respective events.
Danielle Nack swept the women's butterfly events last season, posting a pool-record in 1:59.05. Rachel Munson finished on top of the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, while Conner McHugh swept the breaststroke events on the men's side.
WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO
Minnesota welcomes 20 new student-athletes to the squad this season: 13 on the men's team, and seven on the women's team.
The Gophers also welcome back top performers such as Kierra Smith, Yu Zhou and Brooke Zeiger on the women's team, and Matt Barnard, Logan Redondo and Jakub Maly on the men's team.
"I'm looking forward to the process day-to-day," head coach Kelly Kremer said. "I'm looking forward to seeing how it all turns out."
