Gophers Fall in Rematch

No. 45 Minnesota fell to No. 16 Columbia 7-0 in an ITA Kick-off rematch Sunday.
In the last matchup against the Lions earlier this season, the Gophers fell 4-0 at the ITA Kick-off. Despite the score, they were competitive on the day with doubles coming down to the wire and having three singles spots win the first set before seeing their matches go unfinished.
Freshman Josip Krstanovic moved up to the No. 3 singles, and gave a strong effort, only losing by two in each set. His doubles match with Justyn Levin would go unfinished. The pair is 4-4.
At the No. 4 spot, Levin dropped both sets, 6-0, 6-3. He now holds an 8-9 record.
After falling at the No. 5 spot, Felix Corwin is now 7-6 on the season after missing some time due to an injury.
Jeremy Lynn and Matic Spec lost their first match as doubles partners at the No. 2 spot, 6-2. The pair is now 5-1 together.
Spec fell at the No. 1 spot 6-3, 6-1, and is now 5-5 in the spring and 8-7 overall.
Ruben Weber didn't come out with a win at the No. 2 spot, but still holds a team-best 11-7 singles record. Weber and Marino Alpeza are 4-6 this season. Alpeza came close as well in singles but fell 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot.
The Gophers hold a strong home record, and will return to Baseline next Saturday to face Army and Illinois State. The matches will be played at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
