SAINT PAUL, Minn. (GopherSports.com) - The University of Minnesota men's track & field program won 10 of a possible 19 events to kick off the weekend on Thursday night at St. Thomas' TomCat Twilight at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

All-American Luca Wieland pocketed a pair of titles for the Maroon & Gold, winning the high jump at 2.11 meters (6-11.00 ft.) and the pole vault at 4.70 meters (15-05.00 ft.). Minnesota also picked up wins from Jordan Charles in the 100 meters (10.50), Gemechu Godi in the 200 meters (22.44), James Travis in the triple jump (14.15 meters, 46-05.25 ft.) and Sam Elsner in the discus (58.96 meters, 193-05 ft.).

The Gophers also picked up four titles from unattached competitors. Eric Walker won the 110-meter hurdles (14.58), Sam Lundquist won the 400-meter hurdles (54.58), Sammie Houston won the long jump (6.55 meters, 21-06.00 ft.) and Connor Rousemiller won the hammer throw (49.53 meters, 162-06 ft.).

Minnesota continues competition on Saturday with the Holst Invitational at Concordia-St. Paul's Sea Foam Stadium.
