Gophers Drop Match to No. 13 Northwestern

The University of Minnesota Gophers closed out a tough weekend of playing top ranked opponents with a 4-0 loss to No. 13 Northwestern on Sunday.
The Wildcats quickly took the doubles point, winning matches at the No. 1 and 3 spot. Matic Spec and Jeremy Lynn saw their match go unfinished while tied 4-4. The duo won Friday and are 7-5 together.
Only three singles matches were played all the way through on Sunday. Justyn Levin dropped the first match of the day at the No. 5 spot (6-0, 6-1). He is now 1-2 there and 10-13 on the season.
Marino Alpeza followed, losing his match (6-1, 6-2) at the No. 3 spot in just his second time there this season. His last match there went unfinished.
Lynn lost 6-2, 6-3 in the last match of the day at the No. 6 spot. He has picked up three wins there this season.
Spec, Ruben Weber, and Felix Corwin all had their matches go unfinished. Spec was up in the second set of his match.
The Gophers return home to Baseline next weekend, taking on Michigan and Michigan State.
