Gopher Invite hits Baseline this weekend

With a trio of Gophers performing at the ITA National Fall Championship this week, the remainder of the Minnesota Men's Tennis program will compete on their home court as the Maroon & Gold welcome teams to Baseline Tennis Center for the 2017 Gopher Men's Invitational.
Boise State, Dartmouth, Denver, Notre Dame, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin will make out the rest of the field.
Gopher Participants
With three Gophers on the road, the team will see some new pairings for the weekend. In the Maroon Draw, junior Marino Alpeza teams with freshman Jackson Allen, junior Josip Krstanovic team with sophomore Eli Ogilvy, and rookie Vlad Lobak with junior Justyn Levin. In the gold draw, freshman Kaleb Dobbs will team with freshman Jorge Nunez of Denver.
Tournament Format
The tournament features a unique format: the Maroon draw is a 16-team compass bracket with pairs competing in a doubles match followed by two singles matches against their foes in a best-of-three format with each victory providing one "point" for the tournament. The team with the most points moves on to the next round.
The Gold draw features two flights of round robin play. After a round-robin format, the pairs will be split up based on results for Sunday. Respective finishers with compete with each other in their next pod.
Schedule
Friday's matches will begin at 9 a.m. with Saturday and Sunday set to begin at 8 a.m. tentatively. Friday will consist of two doubles rounds and one singles match for all players. Saturday will consist of two singles match and one doubles match. Sunday will consist of one round of each.
