Minnesota men's swimming and diving earned three more All-America honors and broke a 12-year-old program relay record on the final day of the NCAA Championships. The Golden Gophers placed 23rd with 43 points in Indianapolis.
Matt Barnard finished seventh in diving for the second consecutive night. He scored 422.90 points on the platform to end his Gophers career with a fifth All-America honor. Alan LeBlang placed 26th in prelims with a score of 305.75.
Minnesota's 400-yard freestyle relay team broke the program record twice on Saturday. Bowe Becker, Paul Fair, Tuomas Pokkinen and Daryl Turner finished 13th in 2:51.06. Their prelims time of 2:51.19 broke a Minnesota record set in 2005. The Gophers have earned All-America honors in at least one relay for 30 of the past 31 years.
Seniors Fair and Turner wrap up their careers with three All-America honors each. Sophomore Becker also has two, and freshman Pokkinen has one.
Conner McHugh tallied his second All-America accolade of the meet and third of his career with a 12th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke. His finals time was 1:54.10. Jakub Maly placed 31st in 1:56.94, and Eric Sande was 38th in a personal-record 1:58.97.
Becker finished 20th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 42.75 in the prelims.
