Doeden Plays Career-Best Tournament

Justin Doeden finished third to lead the Gophers at the Tiger Invitational. Minnesota finished 11th as a team at Grand National in Opelika, Ala. Teams completed the second round which was suspended Sunday night before playing the final round.
Doeden's third-place finish is the best of his Gophers career. His tournament score of 208 and 8-under finish are also career bests for the senior. Doeden followed up yesterday's 5-under 67 by finishing off a 70 Monday morning and shooting a 71 in the afternoon. He was five strokes behind medalist Thomas Eldridge of UNCW, and two behind runner-up Zan Luka Stirn of Arkansas State.
Minnesota finished with a combined score of 873 (+9) in the packed middle of the leaderboard. No. 23 Auburn won its own tournament at 13 under.
Riley Johnson tied for 39th at 5 over. After opening the tournament with a 70 he carded a 75 and 76 on the way to the Gophers' second-best tournament score.
Rúnar Arnorsson started the day by finishing Round 2 with a 68, 11 strokes better than his first round. His 68 including five birdies to one bogey. Arnorsson carded a 75 in Round 3 to finish tied for 47th at 6 over. Thomas Longbella tied his teammate after posting his tournament-best score of 71 Monday afternoon. Longbella and Arnorsson each had an eagle in the third round.
William Leaf rounded out the Gophers' lineup, finishing 95th at 18 over. He shot a 76 in the third round, his best score of the tournament.
