Minneapolis, Minn. -The No. 33 University of Minnesota men's tennis team completes their regular season schedule this weekend with two matches at Baseline. The Gophers will battle the Purdue Boilermakers on Friday at 3 p.m. and the No. 49 Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday at noon.
Last weekend, the Gophers fell at No. 2 Ohio State and Penn State. Felix Corwin was the only Minnesota player to earn a point against the Buckeyes, as he took down a ranked opponent.
On Sunday, the Maroon & Gold fell in State College, Pa by a score of 5-2. Corwin and Marino Alpeza picked up three-set wins on the singles side but that was not enough to have the edge on the Nittany Lions.
After the final weekend of games at Baseline, the Gophers travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for the Big Ten Tournament, hosted by Purdue. Last year, the Gophers lost in the first round to the Boilermakers. The tournament schedule will come out early next week.
Senior Day
Sunday will be Jeremy Lynn's final home match for the University of Minnesota. In his four years as a Gopher, Lynn picked up 19 wins in singles and 20 for doubles. From Joplin, Mo. the senior has been a dedicated member of the Maroon & Gold since he was a freshman. A leader on and off the court, Jeremy has earned Minnesota's Team Spirit Award for two straight seasons, and has been a consistent academic Big Ten honoree.
