The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team edged out the Michigan State Spartans 196.075 to 194.925 Saturday afternoon in their annual Always Dreaming Meet.

"We're really pleased," head coach Jenny Hansen said. "We knew last week was our first meet and we knew we had a lot more in us. This is a good representation of where we are at in the season."

Freshman Lexy Ramler won the all-around title for the second-straight meet, scoring a 39.450 score overall.

In second place behind Ramler was another freshman, Ona Loper, who posted a 39.100.

"She's my best friend, so being able to be with [Ramler] and compete with her is a fun experience," Loper said.

It was Loper's first time as a Gopher competing in all four events.

"We're really excited about where she's at and where she's going," Hansen commented on Loper. "We knew this freshmen class was great and they are really showing us what we had thought. They made great strides in preseason and they are shining now, which is fun."
