Frid Leads Hept Field Through Four

MINNEAPOLIS -- Gophers newcomer Teddy Frid leads the heptathlon field through four events as the action kicked off on Friday at the Jack Johnson Classic, held at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
Frid paces the competition with 2,964 points following Friday's 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump events. The heptathlon concludes on Saturday with the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000 meters.
Frid led the field in three of the first four events -- the 60 meters (7.15, 830 points), the long jump (6.85 meters, 22-05.75 ft., 778 points) and the high jump (1.97 meters, 6-05.50 ft., 776 points). He also finished fourth in the shot put (11.56 meters, 37-11.25 ft., 573 points).
John Uchytil isn't far behind his teammate, standing in third place with 2,632 points. Marquette's William Eggers is in second with 2,720 points.
