Jackson Allen kicked singles draws off for the Maroon and Gold with a dominating victory over Oral Robert's Blake Sprouse by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Allen later went on to win his second round match against seeded Oklahoma State opponent, Emile Hudd 7-5, 7-5 to advance. Kaleb Dobbs followed suit by securing a 6-1, 7-5 win over UND's David Callegari, but later dropped his second round draw to the home team's Majed Kilani 6-4, 6-1. The Gophers would see additional wins from Sebastian Vile and Marino Alpeza in the first round but were later ousted in the second wave. After receiving first round byes, four-seeded Stefan Milicevic and seventeen-seed Josip Krstanovic will join Allen in the Round of 32 singles action.
In doubles play, four tandems of Gophers took on the competition with three advancing into the doubles Round of 32. The duos of Krstanovic/Levic and Alpeza/Milicevic received first round byes so ultimately did not see any doubles action on the day. However, the Allen/Ogilvy team secured their spot in the next round with an 8-4 win over the Omaha duo of Grigorescu/Reekie. The Minnesota pair of Vlad Lobak and Sebastian Vile were edged out by a score of 8-7 (0) in a back-and-forth tilt with Tulsa's duo of Boriss Kamdem and Tom Thelwall-Jones for the lone doubles loss of the day.
Friday, Oct. 19 is tentatively scheduled to host two rounds of doubles draws followed by a solo round of singles due to inclement weather intended to hit Tulsa. Live streams of courts 1-12 along with live scoring are available via the link.
