Allen, Krstanovic and Milicevic Shine in Singles at ITA Regional

Friday's action would begin with doubles where the Gophers' tandem of Jackson Allen and Eli Ogilvy kept to their hot start with a 8-3 win over the home team's combination of Goodger/Hing in the Round of 32. However, the duo dropped their Round of 16 match to Drake's Gillespie/Thorold by a score of 3-8. After receiving first round byes, the teams of Josip Krstanovic/Justyn Levin and Marino Alpeza/Stefan Milicevic were eliminated after dropping their matches to Iowa and Oklahoma State opponents in the Round of 32 and Round of 16 respectively. With the three Gophers' teams eliminated in Friday's action, the Gophers would have no remaining participants in doubles draws.
At the conclusion of doubles play, singles action kicked off where Allen snagged an extraordinary upset victory over the No. 16 player in the nation and Regional No. 1 seed, Aleksandre Bakshi of Oklahoma 6-4, 6-4 to continue his tournament run.
"I served well and just tried to stay closer to the baseline and not get pushed back" Allen said. " Coach Urban was on my court for the match and was really helpful in getting me through to the win."
Milicevic and Krstanovic additionally downed their Oklahoma State and Arkansas opponents by scores of 7-6, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively to advance alongside Allen to the ITA Regional Round of 16 singles draws. With the Gophers' unscathed performance in singles, they are tied with the University of Iowa for the most remaining players (3) participating in singles at the ITA Regional.
