Gopher Invitational: Day 2

Minnesota kicked off day two of the Gopher Invitational with a strong showing from Justyn Levin. After going 3-0 on Friday, Levin replicated his performance with a 3-0 record on Saturday, winning twice in doubles and once in singles. Levin's efforts helped carry him and Ogilvy to the finals of the Maroon Team Bracket, beating Northwestern 2-1.
The Golden Gophers went an even 2-2 in doubles play and 8-8 in singles.
PLAYER-BY-PLAYER RESULTS
Justyn Levin
Levin had himself a day on the court, going 3-0 and improving his record to 6-0 overall for the weekend. Levin started his day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Shanklin of Marquette. Then, with doubles partner Eli Ogilvy, Levin took the pairings doubles match by storm with a 6-4 come-from-behind victory over Pickens and Fasano of Northwestern. Levin completed his perfect day with a singles win over Northwestern's Fasano, a breezy 6-3, 6-0 win.

Eli Ogilvy
Ogilvy had a slow start to his morning with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Meyers of Marquette. After his and Levin's big doubles win over Northwestern's Fasano and Pickens, Ogilvy lost a tough three-set match to Pickens, losing 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. Ogilvy and Levin advanced to the finals of the Maroon Team Draw, set to play on Sunday.

Josip Krstanovic
Krstanovic started off hot from the field, winning his first singles match against Osgar O'Hoisin of Wisconsin 6-2, 6-4. Then, he and doubles partner Sebastian Vile lost 7-6 to Krill and O'Hoisin of Wisconsin. Krstanovic then fell in his second singles match 7-6, 6-3 to Conklin of Dartmouth.
Day 2 record: 1-2
Sebastian Vile
Vile fell in all three of his matches, including his doubles match with Krstanovic. Both his singles matches proved to be hard-nosed efforts, forcing three-sets in both. Vile lost the first match 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to Krill of Wisconsin and 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 to Conklin of Dartmouth.

Vlad Lobak
Lobak crushed his first singles opponent, Mariados of Notre Dame, 6-0, 6-2. Then, he and doubles partner Kaleb Dobbs lost 6-4 to Speicher and Glasnovic of Dartmouth. Lobak closed out his final singles match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Speicher, again of Notre Dame.

Kaleb Dobbs
Dobbs played a tough first match against Gota of Notre Dame, winning 7-6 in the first set. The South Dakota native showed grit in his match, but ultimately fell 6-7, 6-2, 10-8. After his loss with Lobak in doubles, Dobbs earned his first victory of the day with another gritty performance, a 7-6, 7-5 win over Glasnovic of Dartmouth.

Jackson Allen
Allen started his day by breezing by Cory of Utah, winning 6-1, 6-1, then earned a win with doubles partner Marino Alpeza, a 6-2 win over Gamble and Broadus of Notre Dame. Allen then fell against Gamble in singles to a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Marino Alpeza
Like his doubles partner Allen, Alpeza also started off hot with a win in singles play, toppling Bankaim of Utah to the tune of a 6-2, 6-4 win. After his doubles win, Alpeza fell to Broadus of Notre Dame, losing 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
