Gophers to Play Georgia in NCAA Opening Round

2018 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament Bracket
MINNEAPOLIS - The Gopher Men's Tennis will travel to Norman, Oklahoma to take on Georgia in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at the Norman regional hosted by 14th seed Oklahoma.
Minnesota (15-8) makes a return bid to the tournament as a team after matching up against Georgia Tech in last year's tournament. The Gophers were represented in the singles tournament in 2013-15 and last made back-to-back appearances at the big dance as a team in 2011-12 and 2012-13. The field for this year's singles and doubles tournaments will be announced Wednesday, May 2 in a press release on NCAA.com.

The Maroon & Gold are led by seniors Felix Corwin and Matic Spec. Corwin has posted a 24-7 overall record this season, including 16-4 in the spring and 14-4 at the #1 singles position. Spec recently snapped a nine-match winning streak, owning a 23-9 singles mark, including 14-3 at #2 during the spring. Stefan Milicevic leads the team with 25 singles victories during his sophomore campaign, finishing 12-4 at #3 singles during the spring.

Minnesota is just 1-5 all-time against Georgia, but the Gophers have not matched up with the Bulldogs since prior to the year 2000.
Official game time and dates are yet to be announced. The Regionals are set to take place the weekend of May 11-13.
