Corwin Qualifies for NCAA Singles Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS - After the Gopher Men's Tennis team competes in the NCAA Tournament beginning next week, senior Felix Corwin will wrap up his collegiate career competing at the NCAA Singles & Doubles Tournament in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as one of 49 at-large selections announced Wednesday.
The event, hosted by Wake Forest, begins Wednesday, May 23 after the completion of the team tournament, with the finals concluding on Monday, May 28. Minnesota's last singles competitor was Leandro Toledo in 2015.
Corwin competed at #1 singles for the majority of the spring season, finishing 14-4 in the first position and 16-4 in the dual season. Including fall tournament action, Corwin went 24-7 overall in 2017-18. He had his most noteworthy singles victory of the season in the Big Ten Tournament, knocking off Mikael Torpegaard of Ohio State, who Wednesday was named the sixth overall seed in the tournament. Corwin also had ranked victories over Raheel Manji of Indiana, Constant De La Bassetiere of Penn State, and Jake Douglas of Washington. In the fall, he reached the finals of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Sept. 24 and competed at the SFHS ITA Men's All-American on Oct. 2-9.
The bracket for the singles and doubles tournaments have yet to be released.
Corwin and the Gophers will first meet Georgia in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament next Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m. in Norman, Oklahoma.
