Preview of Big Ten Course on Deck for 'U' Saturday

WEATHER UPDATE: Due to the weather forecast, Nebraska has announced both races have been moved up an hour on Saturday. The men's eight-kilometer race will now run at 9:45 a.m. CT with the women's six-kilometer race set for 9:00 a.m.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Fresh off a win in the season opener, the University of Minnesota men's cross country program heads back to work this weekend at Nebraska's Greeno/Dirksen Invite on Saturday, Sept. 15. The eight-kilometer men's race at Mahoney Golf Course, which will serve as a preview to next month's Big Ten competition at the same venue, starts at 9:45 a.m. CT with the women's six-kilometer race starting at 9:00 a.m.

It'll also be a good chance to get the rest of the team that didn't compete at the Oz engaged before the Griak in a couple weeks. Gophers Claim Oz Memorial Title
The Maroon & Gold opened the 2018 cross country season last Friday at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn., claiming the team title at the four-mile Oz Memorial. The Gophers recorded 24 points to claim the team title at their home event, besting Drake as the runner-up with 44 points. All five of Minnesota's scoring runners finished in the top-10 including Owen Hoeft in second, Joey Duerr in third and Jack Manderscheid in fourth. Connor Olson and Alex Plasencia rounded out the Maroon & Gold scoring in sixth and ninth, respectively. Recap
'U' Announces 2018 Roy Griak Invitational Hall of Fame Class
The University of Minnesota and Gopher Athletics are proud to announce the 2018 Roy Griak Invitational Hall of Fame class, highlighting four individuals who have made immeasurable contributions to one of the nation's top cross country meets. This year's inductees are Hassan Mead, Rasa (Michniovaite) Troup, Dave Percival, and Griak Invitational co-founder Gary Wilson. The 2018 Roy Griak Invitational Hall of Fame class will be honored during the 33rd annual Roy Griak Invitational, set for Saturday, Sept. 29 at Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn. Ferlic to Captain Gophers XC Squad
Redshirt junior Evan Ferlic will serve as team captain for the Minnesota men's cross country program this year. The Roseville, Minn., native posted personal records in three of his five races last season with the Maroon & Gold and factored into the team's score four times. He opened the year with a an eight-kilometer personal record of 25:08.0 at the IU Open and later improved that mark to 24:34.5 at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational. Ferlic closed out the year by running a 10-kilometer personal record of 29:59.61 at the NCAA Midwest Regional – a mark that ranks 11th all-time at the University of Minnesota.
Gophers Add Four to 2018 Cross Country Team
Minnesota will have four new faces on the roster this season as the Gophers have added true freshmen Declan Dahlberg (North Oaks, Minn. / Mounds Park Academy) and Khalid Hussein (Plymouth, Minn. / Wayzata) along with redshirt freshman transfer Seth Eliason (Minnetonka, Minn. / Hopkins / Georgetown). Additionally, Dawson LaRance will join Minnesota's cross country squad as a redshirt freshman this season after competing for the Gophers track & field program as a true freshman last season.
