Weekend Tournament Update: Malibu, Milwaukee, and Princeton

The Gophers headed out to three different tournaments over the weekend. Here's the latest scoop
The Gopher Men's Tennis Team hit the road to open the new season, taking their talents to three different tournaments. Junior Stefan Milicevic found himself on the sunny shores of Malibu, Calif. Milicevic took his first match 6-3, 6-1 in the Round of 32 over Zdenas Derkas. Milicevic then fell in the Sweet Sixteen to Daniel Cukierman of Southern Cal.
Stef also competed in the Mixed Doubles draw, competing alongside Kate Fahey of the University of Michigan. Fahey and Milicevic ripped through the tournament before eventualy falling in the semifinals.
Sophomores Jackson Allen, Vlad Lobak, andKaleb Dobbs, along with Freshman Sebastian Vile went out east for the Ivy Plus Invitational in Princeton, NJ. On Friday, Sebastian Vile earned his first career win, defeating Buffalo 7-5, 7-6 in a closely contested match. Allen, Lobak, and DObbs each fell in their first round match, while the pairings of Lobak/Allen and Dobbs/Vile each lost their doubles matches.
The senior squad of Marino Alpeza, Josip Krstanovic, Justyn Levin, and Jesse Sprinkel made their way to Milwaukee, Wis. for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Krstanovic won his first round match against DePaul, winning 6-1, 6-2, while Alpeza, Sprinkel and Levin all fell in their matches. Levin bounced back to win his next two matches, defeating NC State 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 and toppling BYU 7-5, 6-4. Alpeza won his second round match against Iowa 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 before losing his third match.
