MINNEAPOLIS – The Golden Gopher track & field program wrapped up the two-day Jack Johnson Classic with six event titles, including five for the men and one for the women. Another five Gophers won their respective events while competing unattached at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse this weekend.

Minnesota's most notable wins on the men's side came in the throwing events as Jonathan Tharaldsen and Kieran McKeag both recorded personal records to win while hitting top-10 all-time marks at Minnesota. Tharaldsen jumped all the way into third all-time with his victory in the shot put at 19.50 meters (63-11.75 ft.) while McKeag moved into seventh in the weight throw with his winning mark of 20.68 meters (67-10.25 ft.).

The Gophers also found success in the horizontal jumps with wins in the triple jump from James Travis at 14.31 meters (46-11.50 ft.) and Mason Roomes in the long jump at 7.06 meters (23-02.00 ft.). Eric Walker added a title in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.15.

Kiley Sabin led the Minnesota women with a win in the shot put. She set a new Jack Johnson Classic meet record with a throw of 16.60m (54-05.50) and earned her third shot put crown of the season.

Tess Keyzers set career-best marks in both the shot put (15.24m, 50-00) and the weight throw. She led the attached Gophers in weight throw with a third-place finish, posting a mark of 20.29m (66-07.00) to move into seventh in Minnesota history.

Meanwhile, top performances for the Gopher women on the track saw Allison Dugan (400m), Lindsey Greenlund (mile) and Jaycie Thomsen (5,000m) earn runner-up finishes in their respective events.

Additionally, men's distance runner Obsa Ali was in action at the UW Invitational in Seattle, running in the 3,000 meters. The 2018 NCAA steeplechase champion clocked a 7:54.92 for a personal record and jumped into fourth all-time at Minnesota in the event.

Four Gopher women won their respective events while competing unattached. Hannah Hood-Blaxill won high jump in her unofficial college debut, clearing 1.63m (5-04.25) for the event crown, and Kaitlyn Long won weight throw with a University of Minnesota Fieldhouse record throw of 23.52m (77-02.00). On the track, Kayla Vogt won the 400m in 57.75 seconds while racing unattached. Ayesha Champagnie added a title in the pentathlon with 3,741 points while competing unattached. Teddy Frid won the heptathlon as an unattached competitor with a total of 5,564 points.

The Gophers are back on the road at the Power Five Invitational hosted by Michigan next Friday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 2. The meet will be streamed online via FloTrack and BTN Plus.
