Martin Continues Strong Performance on Day Two of Gopher Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — In a jam packed day two of competition at Baseline Tennis Center, the Gopher men's tennis team saw its success from Friday carry into today's matches, as the team finished with an overall singles record of 10-6 and an overall doubles record of 3-3.

In the main draw of the Gopher Invite, the Ski-U-Mah Draw. The Gophers saw two of their teams reach the semifinal stage with Jackson Allen/Eli Ogilvy and Siim Troost/Bodin Zarkovic.

Allen won his singles (7-6, 6-3) while Ogilvy fell to Soha of Wisconsin in singles (6-1, 6-4). The pair lost in doubles to Sculley/Soha of Wisconsin (6-3) and did not advance.

Daniel Martin had another solid day at the Gopher Invite after going 1-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles. So far this tournament, the freshman is 2-0 in doubles and 3-0 in singles. 

Notable:
Martin is the only Gopher to remain undefeated heading into the third and final day of the Gopher Invite.

Quotable:
"I'm very happy to be undefeated so far. I am looking forward to carrying it on the rest of the tournament," said Martin.

Up Next:
The final day of the Gopher Invite begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. It will feature one round of doubles and one round of singles play. Those matches will mark the last matches of the Maroon & Gold's fall season.
