STARTING FIVE
• The Gophers begin the final four games of the regular season with a two-game road trip, heading to Rutgers on Sunday evening. A win would mark the Gophers' first two-game sweep of a Big Ten foe this season.
• Senior forward Jordan Murphy was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday. He is second in Big Ten play in rebounding, pulling down 11.3 boards per game, and leads in overall rebounding with 12.0 rebounds per game on the season, fourth in the nation. His 1,234 career rebounds ranks second in Big Ten Conference history Murphy became the ninth player in Big Ten history with 1,600+ points and 1,000+ career rebounds.
• Center Daniel Oturu leads all Big Ten freshmen players in rebounding (7.2 rpg), field goal percentage (55.8 percent) and blocks (1.5 bpg). He is eighth in scoring at 11.1 points per game, trailed closely by fellow Gopher freshman Gabe Kalscheur (10.3 ppg).
• As of February 22, junior guard Amir Coffey is seventh in the Big Ten averaging 16.1 points per game in Big Ten contests. Coffey has reached double figures in all but four Big Ten games, including a career-high 32 points against Nebraska in December. Coffey crossed the 1,000-point mark on Feb. 3 at Purdue, becoming the 10th player in program history to do so during their junior season.
• Senior guard Dupree McBrayer now ranks eighth all-time at Minnesota in career assists (307), and tied for 13th with 117 career three‐pointers made. He is 12th in three-pointers attempted (352). McBrayer became the 44th Gopher player to reach the 1,000-point mark in his career on Feb. 9 at Michigan State. Teammate Brock Stull, who spent three seasons at Milwaukee before joining the team this year as a grad transfer, became the third Gopher this season to cross 1,000 points for his career, doing so with a late basket against Michigan on Thursday.
SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
• Rutgers has dropped its past two contests after a 59-56 win at Northwestern on Feb. 13. Most recently, Michigan State defeated the Scarlet Knights, 71-60, in East Lansing on Wednesday evening.
• One of two double-figure scorers for RU, Eugene Omoruyi leads the offense with 13.6 points per game and also averages a team-high 7.6 rebounds.
• Geo Baker is second in the Big Ten averaging 1.7 steals per game.
