Home Win Streak Improves to Three With Victory Over Coyotes

In the first dual of their Friday doubleheader the University of Minnesota women's tennis team swept the University of South Dakota Coyotes 7-0 to improve their home record to 3-0 on the season. The sweep over the Coyotes marks the second 7-0 team victory in their last three matches.
Doubles:
The No. 2 and No. 3 positions got things started for the Gophers in doubles action. The No. 2 duo of Tina Kreinis and Tiffany Huber downed South Dakota's Tranberg and Nylund 6-1 to put the Gophers out to an early lead in doubles draws. Shortly after the completion of the No. 2 match, the No. 3 pairing of Bita Mancera and River Hart defeated the Coyotes' duo of Lazarevic and Stanciu 6-1. The team of Hart and Mancera would improve to a 4-1 doubles record on the season with their only loss coming from the early match-up with No. 8 UCLA in their spring season opener.
Singles:
The top of the Golden Gophers lineup lead the way in singles competition with early victories coming from Mancera and Kreinis. Cammy Frei joined the win column with a promising 6-0, 6-0 straight-set victory over South Dakota's Tranberg. Â Afterwards, in the only extended match of the morning, Huber wrapped up play against the Coyotes with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Habiba Aly to solidify the 7-0 sweep over South Dakota.
Up Next:
After their four-match home stand the Gophers will hit the road for their next six matches. To start, the Maroon and Gold will head down south to take part in a weekend-long dual between Missouri and Memphis in Tennessee. Following their southern escapade, the Golden Gophers will return north as they take on Utah and Big Ten rival, Wisconsin in Madison. The Gophers will return back home March 9, 2019 when they host Drake and Iowa State in a doubleheader.
