Stefan Milicevic tied the match up from the get-go, as he cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles. Then, Eli Ogilvy fell 6-3, 6-3 in No. 6 singles and Josip Krstanovic fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 singles. With three points on the table, and three needed to clinch, Minnesota had their work cut out for them. Vlad Lobak started the rally with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win in No. 5 singles. Marino Alpeza fought ooth-and-nail in No. 3 singles, forcing a third set and eventually a tiebreak, but fell 7-6, 5-7, 7-6 (8). Jackson Allen then closed out the dual with a 6-7, 7-5, 7-6 win in No. 4 singles.
THE SPIN
It's tough to lose on Senior Day, but even tougher when it's the last match of the regular season. The final match for Minnesota was a grind-fest, lasting over four hours, and only two singles matches being decided in straight sets. The Big Ten Tournament coming up witll show what the team is made of, and how they improve after a tough weekend at home.
UP NEXT
Minnesota will wait for seeding, and play in the Big Ten Tournament next week in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
