Gophers Head East for Dual with NC State

The No. 11 University of Minnesota travels to Raleigh, N.C. for their final regular season road  meet against North Carolina State. The two teams will face-off at 3 p.m. CT.

Minnesota last met NC State on March 12, 2011 at the Pav. The Gophers edged them out 195.475 - 195.400.

Last Time Out
The Gophers took second this past weekend at the Missouri quad meet. Minnesota fell to Mizzou 196.775-196.675, while beating Lindenwood and Ohio State.

Minnesota scored a season-best 49.275 on vault. Tiarre Sales (9.875) and Ali Sonier (9.850) both set a new season-high on the event, while Lexy Ramler (9.900) tied her season-high. Ramler tied for second and Sales tied for fourth.

The Gophers also put up a strong performance on floor, having everyone in the lineup post a score of 9.800 or higher. Halle Remlinger led the Gophers with a 9.875 to tie for third place. Mary Korlin-Downs earned her first podium finish of the season on beam with a team-high 9.875 on beam, tying for second place with Ona Loper. Sales placed fourth with a 9.850.

Ramler tied for first place on the uneven bars with a  9.875. Ramler also finished second in the all-around with a score of 39.450. Loper and Sales tied for third with a 39.375.

Gophers In The Rankings
The Gophers stand still at No. 11 for the second week in a row. Minnesota is averaging an overall score of 196.825 and has a NQS of 196.885. Michigan is the only Big Ten team ranked above them, coming in at No. 5.

The Maroon and Gold have been moving up in the rankings on floor coming in at No. 18 for the second time this season, averaging a team score of 49.134 (49.255 NQS). The Gophers remain at No. 4 on beam and No. 10 on bars. Minnesta fell two spots on vault, dropping to No. 15. The Gophers have been ranked in the top-25 on vault, bars, beam and in the all-around all season long.

Ramler is ranked in the top-10 in three categories: No. 8 in the all-around (39.505 NQS), No.1 on beam (9.970 NQS) and No. 8 on bars (9.925 NQS). 

Loper checks in at No. 11 in the all-around with a NQS of 49.460 and No. 22 on floor with a NQS of 9.900. With a NQS of 9.895, Sales is ranked No. 22 on beam, while Ivy Lu is No. 24 on bars with a NQS of 9.885.

B1G Rankings
Minnesota remains at No. 2 in the Big Ten Standings. Nebraska is No. 3 and Illinois, Ohio State, Michigan State and Penn State are all tied for No. 4.

The Gophers are ranked in the top-3 on every event in the conference, owning the top spot on beam. Minnesota checks in at No. 2 in the Big Ten on Road To Nationals. They have been in the top-2 overall all season.

Ramler and Loper check in at No. 1 and No.3 respectively in the all-around. Loper comes in at No. 2 on floor and No. 5 on floor, while Ramler is No. 1 on bars and beam. Lu is third on bars and Sales is fourth on beam.

Scouting NC State
North Carolina State (195.850) broke into the top-25 for the first time this week after defeating Townson (193.750) and Cornell (190.750), and falling to Penn State (196.575). The No. 22 NC State is ranked No. 20 on floor (49.190 NQS), No. 23 on beam (49.010 NQS) and bars (49.070 NQS) and No. 42 on Vault (48.785 NQS).

NC State leads their conference in every category except for vault, where they rank No. 4.  The team is averaging a team score of 195.497 with a NQS of 195.960.

The team is 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the EAGL heading into the top-25 matchup. Drew Grantham is tied for No. 22 nationally on floor, averaging 9.892 and has a high of 9.925.

Up Next
Minnesota will return home for an exciting match up with No. 1 Oklahoma at Maturi Pavilion and  will compete in front of a sold out crowd. This meet will mark the first ever sold out crowd for a regular season meet. To celebrate this occasion, the meet will be a "Gold Out". Fans are encouraged to wear gold and gold pom poms will be provided on every seat. The last time the Gophers sold out was during the 2016 and 2018 Minneapolis Regional. With the sell out, the Gophers have already recorded a new attendance record. 

At the conclusion of the meet, Minnesota will recognize their five seniors: Casey Betts, Paige Williams, Ivy Lu, Kristen Quaglia and Mary Korlin-Downs. Minnesota will also host alumni note and welcome back a number of Gopher Women's gymnastics alumnae.
