Gophers Drops Final Road Match of Regular Season 4-3 to Penn State

Minnesota turns its focus to the regular season finale at home on Saturday.
State College, PA. - The Gophers closed out their final road trip of the regular season with a 4-3 defeat to Penn State. Minnesota (3-12) turns its focus to the season finale at Baseline, while Penn State (10-6) picks up their third straight win.
Doubles Play
The Gophers stuck with the same pairings for doubles for the second straight match. The pairing of Juliet Zhang and Ekin Ercetin picked up a doubles victory, but the Nittany Lions took the other two matches to capture the doubles point.
Singles Play
The Nittany Lions built on their lead with singles wins in the #2 and #4 position while Dalila Said got the Gophers on the board. With only four courts available, the #5 and #6 singles matches did not begin until courts opened up. After a long, three-set battle, Rachel Hanford fell in the #1 position to secure the victory for Penn State.
Lucia de Santa Ana and Juliet Zhang both secured victories for the Maroon & Gold after courts opened up to bring the final score to 4-3.
