Minnesota's first outdoor match of the season ends in defeat.
Columbus, OH. - The Gophers returned to play after a week-long pause in the schedule and fell to the highly-ranked Buckeyes 4-0. Minnesota (3-11) drops their fifth straight match, while Ohio State (16-3) moves to 13-1 in the Big Ten.
Doubles Play
The Buckeyes came out fast in doubles play and took the #1 and #3 doubles matches 6-0 and 6-1 respectively to quickly put the home team on top.
Singles Play
The Buckeyes took care of business in singles play. The Gophers fell behind early and dropped the first set in each of the six matches. After straight-set Buckeye victories in the #4, 5 and 6 positions, the match was called at 4-0.
#79 Rachel Hanford's match against #10 Irina Cantos Siemers went unfinished at the beginning of the third set.
