SERIES HISTORY

-Indiana State and Minnesota have lined up four times dating back to the inaugural matchup on March 30, 1985. The Sycamores took the first contest, 9-4, at the Metrodome Tournament in 1985 and followed up with wins in two of the three contests in a three-game series at Minnesota in 2013.

SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
-Northeastern University's baseball team received several preseason accolades from the Colonial Athletic Association.
-NU's top returning ace, Cam Schlittler was selected as a 2022 CAA Preseason Co-Player of the Year, after his stellar freshman season saw him take home the 2021 Rookie of the Year honor. He will pitch on Friday.
-In the preseason poll, the Huskies were selected to finish first in the CAA, after their first-ever CAA Tournament Championship last season. They played in the Arkansas Regional last spring after going 36-12 (20-3 CAA). Five Huskies were chosen to the preseason all-conference team.

SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
-Indiana State went 2-2 over the opening weekend with wins over BYU and Marshall, while falling in both contests against Ohio State.
-Indiana State starts the ninth season in head coach Mitch Hannahs' tenure at the helm and the Sycamores are looking to continue the string of success they've had under the ISU Hall of Famer. The Sycamores have posted back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a 2021 at-large bid following a 31-21 overall season and 14-10 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play.
-The Sycamores were picked to finish second in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason baseball poll, behind only Dallas Baptist.

INFIELD COMPETITION PLAYING OUT ON THE FIELD
-Woodbury, Minn., native Ronnie Sweeny had the starting first base spot locked down heading into opening day. The redshirt senior is coming off a breakout 2021 in which he hit a club-best nine home runs and drove in 30 RBI.
-Besides Sweeny however, open competitions were being had in the preseason at second base, shortstop and third base after the departures of Raabe and Wassel.
